HAPPY MOTHER'S DAY!!!!!!

Happy Mother's Day!!! I celebrated with the kids by taking them over to the Carlsbad Flower Fields....we went on a tractor ride...walked amongst the flowers (and tried not to pick them), made a bouquet together, played on the playground, and went out to lunch at Ruby's Diner. We also were invited over to my friend Ann's downt the street for dinner...so we had a full day. I was able to talk to Mike quite a bit this weekend while he was in port in Hawaii. He was able to fit in a hike, run on the beach, beer on the beach and some more relaxing before he gets back on the boat tomorrow and heads towards.........??? We hung in their our first week without Dad, and are finding our groove. The best part of the week was on Friday when Macy had her Mother's Day party at school. She was really excited about all the songs she was going to be singing that day. When she and Emmy woke up at 5:30am.......they came out of their rooms (quiet for their standards) went downstairs and played their favorite game "Honey Mommy"...Macy is Mommy, Ems is Honey....and if Coop is ever floating around he's "Baby". The were coloring and busying themselves until I made it down about 45 min later.....they both said "Happy Mother's Day!" "Do you like how we let you sleep in for Mother's Day???" So now that I kow the possibilities I am hopeful for some later mornings! Hope you all had a great weekend and a Happy Mother's Day!

And he's off...

Today starts the countdown.....we left the house at 6am (with warm milks and cereal in hand), even had time to swing by for one last Starbucks. The kids were truly excited to see Daddy's big ship, although Macy warned us it would smell because Daddy's helicopter smells. There were lots of families with tear filled eyes doing the same thing we were, but somehow that didn't make things any easier. We both knew it was going to be hard, but no one can prepare you to say goodbye to your kids for 6 months. Mike gave us a tour of the ship (the kids first time seeing it). They loved seeing his room and his bunk bed and washing their hands in his sink. Seeing his room reminded me that this isn't easy on Mike either.....I mean zero creature comforts. Mike then took the kids to the Ward Room where he eats and they dined on donuts. We then went up to the deck to see Daddy's helicopter and then headed back to the car to say our goodbyes. Macy asked me the whole time on the drive home to pleas stop being sad....promising to paint me a picture, pour me a glass of water, and read me a book. Emmy snored the whole way home, and Coop just chilled. We ended our early morning with a trip to the park where I was able to talk to Mike on the cell phone a couple of more times. Let's hope this is the fastest 6 months in history. I'm already picturing the homecoming in my head....I guess you have to start this whole thing to finish. Wish us luck.
